Job Title: Financial Controller with HR and Administration
Job Overview
The Financial Controller with HR and Administration is responsible for overseeing the financial operations, human resources, and administrative functions of a medium-sized trading company in Kenya. This role requires a professional who can manage accounting, financial planning, HR processes, and office administration, ensuring the smooth running of the company’s financial, people, and operational activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Management
Oversee all financial aspects of the company, including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial reporting.
Ensure the preparation and presentation of accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory and tax requirements in Kenya.
Manage and supervise the accounting department, including accounts payable, receivables, payroll, and tax filing.
Coordinate audits and liaise with external auditors.
Implement and maintain financial management systems (ERP or accounting software).
Develop financial strategies that align with the company’s objectives, maximizing profitability and cost efficiency.
- HR Management
Oversee recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and staff training to ensure that the company hires the right talent and retains high-performing employees.
Manage employee relations, resolve conflicts, and ensure compliance with Kenyan labor laws will be an added advantage.
Develop and implement HR policies and procedures, including performance management, compensation and benefits, and employee development programs.
Oversee payroll processing, ensuring accurate and timely disbursement of employee salaries and statutory deductions (e.g., PAYE, NSSF, NHIF).
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, fostering a safe working environment.
- Administration and Office Management
Oversee daily administrative operations to ensure the office functions efficiently, including facilities management, procurement, and office supplies.
Manage and maintain the company’s legal and regulatory compliance, including permits, licenses, and documentation with government authorities.
Assist in coordinating corporate events, meetings, and staff activities.
Develop and implement operational policies to improve office productivity and efficiency. - Strategic Planning and Reporting
Provide insights and financial analysis to the executive team to support decision-making and long-term planning.
Collaborate with department heads to align financial and administrative goals with the company’s overall business strategy.
Develop performance metrics for financial and HR functions and report to senior management on progress.
Key Qualifications and Skills
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance & Accounting, or a related field (MBA or CPA is a plus).
Professional certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA) is highly desirable.
Experience:
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a financial management role, preferably in a trading or distribution company.
Prior experience in HR and office administration is required.
Experience with Kenyan tax laws, labor laws, and regulatory requirements.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of financial accounting principles, financial reporting, and internal controls.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or ERP systems).
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
